Duncan Bahr was raised actors Michael Bahr and Susan Mansur (Bahr) in the famed Manhattan Plaza apartment complex in the theater district in New York City. The ‘Plaza’ as it’s known to residents is filled with actors, dancers, directors and musicians. At the age of 4 he and his parents moved in and were among its first residents. Four years later saw the birth of his one and only sibling, photographer Mitchell Bahr. Across the street from the Plaza, Duncan attended Holy Cross School which inspired the idea for his novella Dead Man’s Hill: Hell’s Kitchen Adventure.

At Xavier High School, Duncan was cast as the lead, Julian Marsh and got the bug, realizing fully that performing was not only in his blood but also his destiny.

Duncan continued theater in college at Middlesex University in London, England. At Middlesex he was exposed to many Avant-Garde physical styles of theater, including Peter Brook’s ideas in The Empty Space, the directing approach of Vsevolod Meyerhold and Japanese Noh Theater. In Duncan’s final year, he and his fellow students would go on a two week whirlwind exchange at GITIS in Moscow, Russia.

After graduation, Duncan returned home to New York to begin his professional career as an actor. He was cast on NBC’s daytime drama Another World as a regular. It was during this time that he met his future wife, actor Courtney Bahr (nee Penzimer) on the set of an independent film. They made films together on shoestring budgets and continue to write screenplays to this day.

Duncan & Courtney relocated to Florida. Since then, he’s been seen on stage at Orlando Shakespeare Theater and Mad Cow Theatre; has appeared in numerous national commercials and featured in television and film, most notably on NBC TV, the OWN Network and on Lifetime. Most recently Duncan appeared as the sleazy antagonist Simon Hughes in the Lifetime thriller, Sorority Secrets.

Duncan and Courtney are the proud parents of three children in Orlando, Florida. For this reason he would like to urge all to donate to causes protecting and improving the environment of the world in which we live so it can be a sustainable home in the future. One thing you can do is plant a tree.
